Blue Wave

Blue Wave was inspired by the greenish-blue hues that emerge when paddling beyond the Southern California shoreline - colors often hidden when the ocean is viewed from shore, where it can appear gray and muted. One of my few abstract works, Blue Wave evokes the awe and freedom of being in the water, with flowing forms that suggest a winding wave and the shapes hidden beneath its surface.
Regina Apigo is an artist, UX/UI designer and writer, who works primarily in water-mixable oils. Born in Seoul and raised in Los Angeles, she draws inspiration from the hills, deserts, and coastlines of Southern California. Though she studied political science at UCLA, she also developed her artistic practice through fine arts courses in college and beyond.
Her work has been exhibited at Dorado 806 Gallery (Santa Monica), Bard Hall Gallery (San Diego), Carter Sexton (North Hollywood), Torrance Art Museum’s Mas Attack, Las Laguna Art Gallery, Ocean Gallery (Santa Barbara), and KArtsCon in Kent, England, where she has been both an exhibiting artist and speaker. Outside the studio, she enjoys reading in the park and running by the ocean.
