The garden is blooming and fall is coming.

Discover the art of creating color from nature. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn the basics of natural dyeing using plants, and flowers. We’ll harvest fresh flowers from the Dear Garden & explore how to prepare fabric, achieve a range of earthy, organic hues.

Each participant will leave with their own hand-dyed cotton piece and a deeper connection to the beautiful process of natural color.

All materials are provided.

planting sunflowers + pumpkin patch
getting our fall flowers in the ground
weeding + laying down fresh mulch
finishing the garden path with pea gravel + wood
finishing up the shady little zone by the arch
planting flowers for our future fall bouquets

Wednesday, 9/2. 12:30 - 2:30.

No green thumb required.

Learn the basic science behind cyanotype print-making; a camera-less photographic printing process, and leave with an archive quality print of your making.

The workshop will include an oral history of the process and its' uses, mixing chemistry, learning through test exposures, the creation of a cyanotype on archival paper, and basic toning techniques.

You are free to bring your own negatives or physical items that you'd like to experiment printing with. There will also be a selection provided at the workshop.

Join Color Magic & Caylee Cakes in the garden for a morning filled with coffee, pasties, live vinyl and friends. 

Color Magic, our resident coffee roaster will be serving up coffee and seasonally crafted signature drinks. Color magic is about slowing down and noticing the art and beauty in the ordinary. Their offering is an invitation to soften your heart and discover color magic in your everyday life, perhaps starting with your cup of coffee. A portion of the coffee menu will be “pay what you want” to allow more accessibility in enjoying a hand crafted cup of coffee.

Caylee Cakes is a local home bakery headed by Caylee, a North County San Diego native. She is passionate about creating pastries and baked goods that make people feel welcome, while highlighting local ingredients and seasonality. From cakes, to cookies, Caylee Cakes provides treats for all occasions. 

DJ Bummerbro will spinning records for your delight.
