Refugio, meaning shelter or sanctuary, is a creative space cultivated for small hands and big minds. Through experimentation with new materials, open-ended exploration, and the freedom to follow their curiosity, children are invited to discover the world through making.
At Refugio, art is about more than what’s created, it's about how we experience the process. Children are encouraged to ask questions, connect with their peers, ground themselves in the present moment, and lean into whimsy in a space where imagination has room to wander.
Guided by artist and educator Brooke Morales, each child is welcomed to explore at their own pace, embrace the unexpected, and find joy in the act of creating.
Designed for children ages 5–10, Refugio offers a nurturing environment where creativity, connection, and curiosity can take root.
November 18th project: Tie-dye shirts
Each student will go home with their dyed shirt. All materials provided.
Ps. We will be emailing you to ask for your kid’s shirt size.
3-4:30pm
