Knitting 101 & Tea - Sun, 5/17
Slow down and learn the timeless craft of knitting in this beginner-friendly, hands-on class. We’ll start with the very basics, building a foundation you can return to again and again. Learn the basics of knitting techniques and stitches, and complete a square that can be used as a coaster, a patch, a bookmark, a potholder, or continued at home into a scarf. This class is entry level, with hands-on guidance, suggestions for trouble shooting, and an opportunity to have all your knitting questions answered. Materials to use and class & take home provided.
Learn how to hold your needles and yarn, casting on foundation stitches, knit stitch, purl stitch, how to turn rows,m increases and decreases, cast off, as well as techniques to prevent hand and wrist pain. Knitting needles and handspun and thrifted, are provided for class use and to take home, and you’re welcome to bring your own materials as well. Once the class has hit their stride, herbal tea from the Dear Tomorrow gardens and organic herbs will be served.
This class is designed for absolute beginners and curious makers alike. With gentle guidance and plenty of time to practice, you’ll begin a small knitted piece while learning the rhythm and meditation of working with yarn and needles. Refresh your skills, and build to your next level. A space to learn, ask questions, receive help, and brainstorm ideas to knit your dreams!
