Haiku: 3-Panel Stories - Tue, 7/14
This workshop explores a slow, observational approach to storytelling, where image and text meet in quiet conversation. Using the three-part structure of a haiku, participants will create small visual narratives that unfold across panels, focusing on simple moments—a shift in light, a gesture, an everyday scene. Ink wash, watercolor, and line will be used to emphasize clarity, restraint, and the expressive potential of minimal marks.
Through guided exercises, we will return to fundamentals: composition, value, pacing, and the relationship between seeing and making. Text is introduced sparingly, not to explain but to deepen or gently shift the image. The goal is not complexity, but presence, learning how to say more with less, and how painting can become a form of poetry.
5pm.
Led by Jake Fabian.
Please note: Cancellations within 48 hours of the workshop cannot be refunded or rescheduled, as our teachers and team prepare materials and supplies specifically for each participant. Thank you for your understanding.
